Aromatherapy
Our approach to Aromatherapy
Only use pure essential oils are used to ensure the therapeutic effectiveness of the application. They are traceable, and organic wherever possible.
Essential oils have many benefits beyond their effects on mood and well-being, and I am qualified to advise you on essential oil use for home. I can also create specific preparations to support the treatment of certain conditions.
Smell is the most primitive of our senses and a single whiff of a particular scent can conjure up a multitude of memories. This happens because information is sent from the nose to the key brain regions involved in learning and memory.
Essential oils, depending on their chemical profile, have antibacterial, antiviral, antiparasitic, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory properties as well as more subtle properties known to calm the nervous system and to support relaxation and spiritual alignment.
Aromatherapy massage
Aromatherapy combines smell with touch thus creating a potent combination of sensations and releasing deep-seated memories, tensions and emotions stored in our body.
An aromatherapy massage is usually a lighter touch massage which works energetically via a sequence of reflexes, and is also aimed at increasing lymphatic drainage.
It is the ideal complement to a detoxification protocol (see my Detox Programmes for more details) as it will help move lymph and increase energetic flow.
When working with injury, back pain and joint pain I will often combine the benefits of aromatherapy massage with some more specific bodywork techniques to release fascia and deeper tensions.
Personalised preparations to take home
Although a single essential oil is a potent remedy for certain acute conditions, more often essential oils are known to work better in synergy.
Using my extensive collection of oils and ointments I can produce personalised preparations and scents using a variety of different essential oils and base carriers to maximise effectiveness without the cost of having to buy each of the ingredients separately.
